“Altaba” will be the new name of Yahoo that will no longer have Marissa Mayer as CEO

The soap opera in which it is wrapped Yahoo! For a long time it seems endless, and at least for now it doesn’t seem like it’s going to end. And it is that in the last hours we have known that it will soon change its name, at least the part that will not be integrated into Verizon, and that Marissa mayer she will cease to be the CEO of the company.

But, let us start at the beginning. We must remember that some time ago Verizon acquired Yahoo for 4.830 million dollars. This movement was approved by investors and governments, although it was never given the official status that we all expected. Now that everything seems in order, the guys at Verizon seem to have gotten to work.

The technology and publications section of Yahoo will be integrated into Verizon, leaving the investment branch in a different sphere, which will be baptized as “Altaba” and that it will have neither Marissa Mayer nor David Flo (CEO and founder of Yahoo) at the helm. Among the highlights of this investment branch is their 15% stake in Alibaba, which could amount to more than $ 30 billion.

The resignation of Marissa Mayer, who came to be Yahoo’s savior and has ended up becoming the opposite, is not due according to various applications “to some disagreement, but only to a reorganization necessary to manage the new mission of the company ”.

Yahoo’s history of unbundling seems to have no end and we fear that we are only at the beginning of a story that seems to have a long way to go.
