Capcom Unveils Lost Planet: Colonies

Since we first heard about Lost Planet, there have been several rumors about a whole series of Lost Planet games. Last year, a message appeared twice that already seemed to indicate a new part, called Lost Planet: Colonies, and last month this title was already rated on the rating site ESRB.

Today, Capcom finally officially revealed that Lost Planet: Colonies is in development. Do not expect a completely new game, but a very extensive Special Edition. The game will not only provide more single- and multiplayer content, but it will also be possible to play cross-platform between the PC and Xbox 360. The campaign will get 11 new missions, Score Attack and Time Trial Battle mode, and the multiplayer will feature 4 new maps, 4 new playable characters, 10 new weapons and no less than 7 new game modes. As examples of new game modes, Akrid Hunting and Akrid Egg are mentioned. In Akrid Hunting, teams must fend off an attack of insects, and in Akrid Egg, players must search for an egg that has not yet hatched.

Lost Planet: Colonies is said to be 90 percent ready and will be released in Japan for PC and Xbox 360 at the end of May. There is no word yet on a PS3 version or a European release.
