Paweł Domagała plays the main role in of the series “Żmijowisko”whose premiere is scheduled for fall this year. The actor is also a musician, so it is no coincidence that he performs the title song for this series. After the shooting was over, the song “Żmijowisko” was inspired by the series, with lyrics by Zuzanna Grabowska.
In the music video directed by Paweł Domagała, there are fragments of the film adaptation directed by Łukasz Palkowski, based on the cult book by Wojciech Chmielarz.
I swallowed Wojciech Chmielarz’s novel in one night and I did not guess the ending until the last pages. Not only Scandinavians are lucky recently with great crime novels. In addition to an engaging story, there are interesting relationships between the characters and accurate comments on reality (including the world of show business). The proposal to play The Ark was an interesting challenge for me, because I usually allowed myself to improvise a lot in film and theater, and this time I had to be like a mathematician, surgeon or architect. Be precise and consistent in order to confuse the leads and keep the viewer guessing. The action takes place on three time levels, which increases the level of difficulty – says Paweł.
Sometimes I am asked if I prefer to be an actor or a musician and I always reply that I am lucky to be able to fulfill two professions that I dreamed about since I was a child. Sometimes, very rarely, it happens that music and acting intertwine, and this is the case in “Żmijowisko”. As an actor I play one of the roles, and at the same time with Łukasz Borowiecki, the co-author of both albums (“I’ll tell you about me” and “1984”), we recorded a song inspired by the book and the series. Before this piece was written, however, the work on the set was extremely interesting and (I do not hide) physically exhausting. Every day I called my wife Zuzanna Grabowska and shared with her my impressions about the book, ideas for the role of Ark, but also physical fatigue and a sense of loneliness away from her and her daughters. Influenced by reading Wojciech Chmielarz’s book and our conversations, Zuza wrote the lyrics of the song. I never sing someone else’s lyrics, and I thought I couldn’t, but I adopted Zuza’s text right away. I find in it familiar feelings, the atmosphere of “Żmijowiska” and an intriguing game with its plot – she adds.
What will “Żmijowisko” be about?
“Żmijowisko” – a new CANAL + series with a star cast. A tale of a tragedy that destroys. About a family that has to face a test beyond human imagination. Feelings that last despite the passing years and do not bring comfort. Betrayal, pain and love. Fear, crime and punishment. About how much we are able to do for our children and how much it costs us. … One evening in agritourism Żmijowisko, 15-year-old Ada (Hania Koczewska), daughter of Arek (Paweł Domagała) and Kamila (Agnieszka Żulewska), disappears during an alcohol-drenched party. The search has no effect. A year later, her father returns to the scene of the tragedy and tries to find his daughter on his own. New clues and new suspects emerge. The matter becomes more and more confusing.
The series was based on the book bestseller by Wojciech Chmielarz of the same title. The director of Żmijowiska is Łukasz Palkowski (director of “Belfra”). The performers include: Paweł Domagała, Agnieszka Żulewska, Cezary Pazura, Piotr Stramowski, Davina Reeves-Ciara, Wojciech Zieliński, Marta Malikowska, Joachim Lamża, Tamara Arciuch, Małgorzata Klara, Szymon Piotr Warszawski, Magdalena Różańska, Dominik Bąk, Mirosław Haniszewski , Grzegorz Warchoł or Lidia Sadowa.
