European Aegis country heads are to report directly to London in the future

As announced today, Andreas Weiss is Aegis Media CEO in South Africa with immediate effect. Previously, the respective Aegis Media CEO Central Europe & South Africa, based in Wiesbaden, was also responsible for the “emerging market” South Africa. Andreas Weiss is moving from the management of Carat Austria and Carat Adriatics from Vienna to Cape Town. Weiss began his career in media agencies in 1999 at MediaCom Vienna, where he worked as a team leader for client Procter&Gamble. Three years ago he switched to Carat Austria.

In addition to this personnel, the London management of Aegis Media is apparently making Europe-wide changes. So far, 34 European Aegis country managers first had to submit their reports in Wiesbaden, but in the future they will apparently be submitted directly to London. This also applies to the newly created position of CEO for South Africa. The management in London is thus reacting to the growing importance of the South African market, which will be the focus of attention in 2010 because of the soccer World Cup.

According to initial information, the Aegis Media Headquarters Central Europe & South Africa in Wiesbaden will focus more on the German market. It is currently unclear whether responsibilities for Central Europe and South Africa will remain in Wiesbaden. However, it is likely that after the events of the last two years in Wiesbaden, responsibility will be shifted from Wiesbaden to London in addition to the reporting channels.
