Electronic Arts and Sony have announced that they will host another FIFA World Cup. This will start shortly after the launch of FIFA 09, which is at the end of October. This edition of the FIFA Interactive World Cup will again be linked to a hefty cash prize, namely $20,000 plus car, a Kia Soul. In addition, the second and third places will also be awarded, with cash prizes of $5,000 and $1,000 respectively.
Qualifiers begin on October 25 in countries around the world. Electronic Arts and Sony will organize no fewer than nineteen tournaments on LANs, from which one player per tournament will be sent to the world championship. The remaining thirteen spots will be distributed via the PlayStation Network.
This FIFA Interactive World Cup will only be held on the PlayStation 3. Already practicing with the PC version? Download our demo now.
FIFA 09 is the latest installment in Electronic Arts’ football series. Balance plays a major role in the game, as you will try to hold your own during a tackle. If your standing leg is not hit, it is quite possible that you just stay on the ball. In addition, keepers can save a ball behind them if they misjudge the ball trajectory.
On the tactical front, FIFA 09 brings new options such as adjusting the level of aggression and how much risk the team is allowed to take. Featuring new animations and improved control over passing, dribbling and pushing and pulling, the game is even more realistic and slightly faster than the previous edition. The Be A Pro mode is also supported in FIFA 09.
FIFA 09 will be released on October 3 for PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable and Nintendo DS.
