Apple announced today that Fitness +, the first Apple Watch-powered fitness experience, will be launched on Monday December 14, 2020.

Service announced in September Apple Fitness + brings studio-style workouts to iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV, intelligently linking training data from Apple Watch to provide, for the first time, this kind of personalized and immersive experience for users anytime, anywhere. Apple Fitness + will launch with 10 of the most popular types of exercise, including high-intensity interval training (HIIT), strength, yoga, dancing, cycling, treadmill (for running and walking), rowing and mindful rest time, guided by a phenomenal team of coaches whose approach is friendly to everyone. The trainings will be accompanied by inspiring music by the best contemporary artists, which is to motivate users.

Integration with Apple Watchem

Apple Fitness + dynamically integrates personal metrics with Apple Watch to inspire users by animating them on-screen at key workout moments, providing an immersive experience that helps keep users motivated. For example, when your trainer asks you to check your heart rate, the heart rate indicators light up. In difficult times, the countdown begins to help users reach the last second, and when they close the Activity rings, the success screens appear on the workout screen.

For those who like a little bit of competition, HIIT workouts, treadmill, cycling and rowing have an optional burn bar that shows in real time how the user’s effort compares to other exercisers.

The service makes starting a workout quick and easy with an intuitive filter that allows users to choose a trainer, time, workout type, and music to go to the next workout in seconds.

There’s also an intelligent recommendation engine that takes into account workouts previously completed in Fitness +, the Apple Watch Workout app, and your favorite third-party fitness apps that integrate with the Health app. Fitness + recommends workouts that match what you have already done so you can start with something familiar right away, suggest trying something new, help you discover a new trainer, or suggest a workout to complement their current routine.

Every week, Fitness + provides new content for all types of exercises with different trainers, time and music. For those just getting started, trying something new, or going back to exercise, several members of the coaching team conduct Absolute Beginner workouts that teach the basics of HIIT, strength, and yoga as an option to prepare for their weekly studio training. Rowing, cycling and treadmill workouts also include instructional videos that show you how to set up your gear and introduce the correct form and technique.

With Activity Sharing, users can let friends and family see their completed Fitness + workouts, and workouts can also be shared on their favorite social media channels.

For now, the service will only start in the United States from Monday, December 14, 2020.
