In fact, with today’s guide I’ll explain how to cancel SPID Poste providing you with all the information you need to succeed in your intent. In addition to the detailed procedure to temporarily suspend your SPID credentials and reactivate them at a later time, you will also find instructions for requesting their revocation.

Preliminary information
Before getting to the heart of this tutorial and explain yourself in detail how to cancel SPID Poste, you may find it useful to know what the cancellation of your digital identity entails and what alternatives are available to you.
First, you need to know that for cancel SPID Poste it is sufficient to download a specific form from the official PosteID website and, after having completed and signed it, send it by email. At the end of the process of revocation of the Digital Identity, the user who has requested it will be able to continue to use the online services available on Poste Italiane (e.g. find a registered letter) but will no longer be able to interface with the many online services of the Public Administration (and not only) that require access via SPID: to do so, it will again be necessary to obtain the SPID credentials with Poste Italiane or with any other Identity Provider.
Alternatively, if you do not want to deactivate the SPID permanently, you can request the suspension of credentials: this procedure allows you to “pause” your digital identity and, in case of second thoughts, reactivate it independently at any time. Is everything clear so far? Well, then let’s take action.
How to suspend Poste Italiane SPID credentials
If you have decided to suspend the SPID Poste Italiane credentials, all you have to do is log into PosteID and select the option to temporarily disable your credentials.
To proceed from computer, connected to the official PosteID website, locate the section Do you already have the SPID-enabled PosteID Digital Identity? and click on the button Log in. Now, take your smartphone or tablet on which you have already logged in to PosteID for the first time, start the PosteID app and press the button Authorize with QR Code. Once this is done, frame the QR code present on the PosteID site with the camera of your device and, always using the PosteID app, log in via facial recognition, fingerprint or entering your PosteID code.
Alternatively, after clicking on the button Log in, enter your data in the fields Username And Password and press the buttons Log in And Continue, to receive a notification on your smartphone / tablet through which you can start the PosteID app, confirm your identity and authorize access to Poste ID from a computer. On the screen Manage your digital identity, select the tab Your SPID profile and click on the option Suspend credentials relating to the type of credentials you intend to suspend (SPID 1, SPID 2 And SPID 3).
At this point, enter the suspension code that was communicated to you via email upon activation of PosteID (you can also obtain it by selecting the option Request immediate suspension code present in the section Your SPID profile) in the appropriate fields and indicate the reason for the suspension via the drop-down menu Reason for the suspension.
Finally, enter the security code displayed on the screen in the field Enter the security code and click on the button Continue: the message The Suspension of the Credential was successful will confirm the suspension of the SPID credentials.
In case of second thoughts, log in again to PosteID, click on the option Reactivate credentials relating to the type of credentials you intend to reactivate and enter the temporary code that was sent to you via SMS in the field Enter temporary code. Then select the reason for reactivation through the appropriate drop-down menu and click on the button Continue, to reactivate the credentials.
Alternatively, you can suspend all SPID credentials also through the function Temporary blocking of the profile. To do this, go to the section Your SPID profile of PosteID, locate the section Functionality and move the lever relative to the option Temporary blocking of the profile from OFF to ON.
If, on the other hand, you are wondering if it is possible to suspend the SPID Poste credentials from smartphone or tablet, the answer is obviously positive. However, you must know that it is not possible to do this via the PosteID application for Android and iOS / iPadOS: even in this case, you must use the browser and the procedure is identical to the one I indicated to suspend credentials from a computer.
How to cancel SPID Poste Italiane
As mentioned in the opening lines of this guide, all you need to do for cancel SPID Poste Italiane is to download the form for the revocation of credentials and send it completed and signed by email. Find everything explained in detail right below.
Cancel SPID Poste registration
To revoke the SPID Poste credentials, connected to the official PosteID website, locate the section Help & Assistance, click on the item Suspend your credentials and, in the new page opened, click on the option Revocation, in order to download the revocation request form in PDF format.
Alternatively, log in to PosteID with your credentials, select the tab Your SPID profile, scroll down the page and click on the item Revoke credentials to download the form in question.
At this point, fill out the form with yours first name, last name, fiscal Code, place And date of birth and, in the section Motivation behind the request, put the check mark next to one of the options available between Withdrawal from the service for personal needs or following the loss of the availability of the mobile number or the contact email / username, Suspected abusive / fraudulent use by a third party And Theft / loss of credentials or associated authentication tool (e.g. smartphone or tablet).
After completing and signing the form, send it by email to the address [email protected] or through PEC at the address [email protected]. Then log in to your inbox, click on the button to create a new message, enter one of the addresses I have just indicated in the field dedicated to the recipient of the message and type the subject “Revocation of SPID credentials” in the appropriate field.
At this point, in the body of the message, enter the request to revoke your PosteID credentials, click on the button to upload an attachment (usually the icon of the clip) and select the PDF file for the module that you filled out just now.
Also, attach a copy of yours as well identity card (not necessary if you are sending a PEC), of yours tax code or health card and the copy of the report to the authorities (not necessary if you are revoking the credentials for personal needs). Finally, click on the button for send the message And that’s it.
As soon as the revocation process is completed, you will receive an email and an SMS containing the credentials to maintain access to Poste Italiane’s online services.
Cancel SPID Poste pre-registration
If to obtain the SPID credentials with Poste Italiane you have pre-registered online with personal recognition at a post office, you must know that you have 30 days to complete the procedure before it is canceled.
Consequently, since you have not yet carried out the recognition and you have not yet signed the necessary documentation to activate PosteID, for cancel the SPID Poste pre-registration your intervention is not required.
If, on the other hand, you have booked an appointment at the post office for recognition in person and, now, you are wondering how to cancel SPID Poste reservation, connected to the official website of Poste Italiane, press the button Personal area, at the top right, and log in with PosteID or by entering the credentials of your Poste Italiane account. Once this is done, select the tab Appointments, click on the appointment you want to cancel and press the button Cancel, to cancel it.
Alternatively, if you have booked an appointment using the Post Office app for Android and iOS / iPadOS, start the app in question, press the ticket to be canceled and, in the new screen displayed, tap the buttons Cancel ticket And Yup, to cancel your appointment. Simple, right?
How to clear the history of SPID Poste
If your intention is delete the SPID Poste history, that is the list of authorized accesses visible on the main screen of the PosteID app, I am sorry to tell you that it is not possible to do this.
In fact, at least at the time of writing this guide, there is no specific function that allows you to delete the history of the permissions granted, either from the app or by accessing PosteID from a computer.

If you still have any doubts regarding the revocation of PosteID or have encountered some problems that prevented you from suspending your credentials, I recommend that you contact the Poste Italiane customer service and request assistance.
To do this, take your phone, dial the number 800.007.777 (the dedicated number to receive information and assistance on Poste Italiane’s SPID Digital Identity) and initiate the call. After hearing the welcome message, wait on the line for the first available operator to answer your call.
