How to create a Facebook survey

1. Create personal or business facebook page polls

The steps for creating a poll (How to take a poll on Instagram) on a page are the same if you want to take the opinion of friends and family or your audience. Let’s pretend we’re planning a family picnic or some other gathering.

  1. Log into your Facebook account.
  2. Check the box Create posts, which probably says “What do you have in mind?”
  3. If you are accessing Facebook from a web browser, click on dots from Suspension to access the complete menu. Scroll down and click Poll. If you’re using the Facebook mobile app, scroll down until you find (and tap) Survey.
  4. Enter an option in the box Option 1, eg Chicken.
  5. Enter an option in the box Option 2, eg Pig.
  6. Select the Duration drop-down list and choose when you want to end the survey. You have four options.
    • 1 day
    • 1 week
    • Never
  7. Select the date you want the survey to end if you choose custom and then do click on OK.
  8. Type a question or statement in the box Mail, eg “What would you rather have at a dinner?”
  9. Select Publish to publish your survey.

2. Create a poll on an event page

You can also create a one-page poll for a Facebook event that you have created or manage.

  1. Log into your Facebook account.
  2. Click Events in the left pane. In the Facebook app, tap the card Events at the top of the page.
  3. Select the event you want to poll on Facebook.
  4. Select Create a survey at the top of the Create post box.
  5. Enter a different option in each box Add option.
  6. Select + Add option to add more polling options.
  7. Select Survey options.
  8. Uncheck Allow anyone to add options if you don’t want event invitees to be able to add more options. (By default, this option is enabled.)
  9. Deselect Let people choose more options if you do not want event invitees to select multiple options. (By default, this option is enabled.)
  10. Type a question or instruction in the box Mail.
  11. Click Publish. Alternatively, click on the Publish drop-down arrow and choose Schedule posts to schedule the poll post later.

3. Create a poll in Facebook Messenger

If you are part of a group conversation using Facebook Messenger, you can create a survey for your friends or customers.

  1. Open the group conversation in Facebook Messenger.
  2. Click on the icon Create a survey (located at the bottom of the Messenger window if you log into Facebook using a web browser).
  3. Tap the button + at the bottom of the Messenger window if you are using the Facebook Messenger app e scroll left to find polls.
  4. Type a question or statement in the box Ask for something.
  5. Select + Add option to add poll options.
  6. Select Create survey to share the survey with your group.

4. Survey options

There are several ways to personalize a Facebook poll, such as adding an image or tagging people.

  1. Log into your Facebook account.
  2. Select in the Create post box, which probably says “What do you have in mind?”
  3. If you log into Facebook from a web browser, click the ellipsis to access the full menu. Scroll down to survey and click on it. If you’re using the Facebook mobile app, scroll down until you find the survey and click on it.
  4. To use images from your device, select in the box Option.
  5. Click Attach a photo. If you are using the Facebook app, tap the button Image at the right end of the box and select Upload photos.
  6. Find the photo you want to use as your first poll option and select You open (on a web browser) or end (on the mobile app).
  7. To use a Facebook GIF as a poll option, click inside the box Option.
  8. Click Attach a GIF. If you are using the Facebook app, tap the button Image at the right end of the box and select Add GIF.
  9. Enter a word or phrase that describes the desired option.
  10. Select the GIF you want to use.
  11. To tag others in your poll, type the names of the people you want to tag in the box.
  12. If you’re using the mobile app, tap Tag friends, then enter the names of the people you want to tag. You can also touch Mark event to mark a Facebook event in the poll.
