The video games of the series GTA (Grand Theft Auto) are your favorites. You’ve played them all and the most recent ones impressed you with their level of detail and realism, as well as the attention to the smallest details. Since the movement on the map often takes place with vehicles, you realized that something is still missing to make the game perfect: the possibility of put the arrow during turns driving your vehicle.
Unfortunately this is one of the few details that Rockstar Games has not taken care of within its series. Or at least not completely. In reality, in fact, the functionality is present in GTA, but only for the vehicles of the NPCs (non-player characters), which use the direction indicators. At this point, the question arises spontaneously how to put arrows on GTA even with your own character. Well, there are ways to do it and, if you want, today I will explain them to you in detail.

How to put arrows on GTA 5
If you want put arrows on GTA 5 on PC, one of the newest chapters in the Grand Theft Auto series, what I recommend you do is to use mod.
Not sure what mods are? Don’t worry, I’ll explain it to you right away. Mods are nothing more than unofficial add-ons (usually scripts, but not only) that allow you to extend the functionality of a video game by integrating new features or improving existing ones.
Mods for GTA 5 can be used without any risk of being banned, if employed in the mode History, that is, the offline one. Using mod in GTA Onlineinstead, it involves the automatic ban, which can be temporary or permanent.
Although the procedures that I will describe to you in the next chapters will concern the installation of mods in the Story mode, which will automatically deactivate when you enter the online mode, it is always better to remove them, to avoid inconveniences. Removal consists of deleting the dependency and mod files from the root folder where GTA 5 is installed. All clear? Well, then I’d say we can proceed.
Download the dependencies needed for the mods
The first step is to download and install the necessary dependencies in order to be able to run the mods on GTA 5. Most of the mods are in .ASI, that is, script files that are executed during the game session.
To allow the execution of the .ASI file, you need to install the library ScriptHook V. To do this, you need to reach the website of GTA5-mods.com at this link, in order to access the card of this tool.
Now, press the button Download and then up again Download, to download the .ZIP file containing the tool. After you download it, double-click thearchive obtained and extract its contents to the root folder where you installed GTA 5.
Among the files contained in the extracted archive, the ones you need are: ScriptHookV.dll, which is the library for supporting these scripts, and dinput8.dll, an essential file for running the .ASI file. All other files in the archive are unnecessary, including the one named NativeTrainer.asi, which is an example script for performing some “tricks” in GTA 5.
If you have followed all the instructions I have given you to the letter, you are ready to face the next chapter of my guide, in which I will explain how to install the mod that will allow you to activate the direction indicators in your vehicle.
Download and install the Car Controls mod
After downloading the ScriptHook V tool, it’s time to move on to downloading and installing the mod Car Controls. This is a script for GTA 5 that allows you to activate and deactivate the turn signals, the hazard warning lights (four arrows), the interior lights and the alarm in your vehicle. It also allows you to open and close the windows and turn the engine on and off.
As you can understand, the Car Controls mod is the most suitable to be able to manage all those features in the vehicle that have not been entrusted to the direct management of the player. But let’s get to the point now, seeing in detail how to download and install the mod in question.
First, go to the website of GTA5-mods.com at this link, to access the section relating to the mod Car Controls. Once this is done, press the button Download and you can again on the same, to make the download of the .ZIP file of the mod.
After thecompressed archive will have been downloaded to your computer, double-click on it and extract its contents in the main folder where you installed GTA 5. I warn you that among the files contained within the archive, the useful ones to extract are only CarControls.asi And carcontrols.ini.
Good! You don’t have to do any other operation! All that’s left for you to do is simply launch GTA 5, in order to start using the mod Car Controls. Like? I’ll tell you about it in the next chapter.
How to use the Car Controls mod
Now that you have installed the mod Car Controls, it’s time to see how it works. The first thing you need to do is start GTA 5, using its quick launch icon on the desktop. Once this is done, start the mode History and wait for the upload to complete.
After you arrive in the game session, get on board a vehicle, to start using the mod in question. The control keys of the mod are equivalent to those of the numeric keypad. You can still modify them to your liking, simply by closing the game and editing the file carcontrols.ini, which you find in the GTA 5 installation folder.
First, the 0 key it allows you to turn the engine on and off of the vehicle you have boarded. THE keys 1 And 3, on the other hand, they respectively manage the vehicle’s direction indicators. Therefore, just press the key 1 to indicate the left turn or the key 3 for the one on the right. You will then have to press the same button again to deactivate the beacon.
The key 2 instead, it allows you to activate and deactivate the emergency warning lights, that is the four arrows. THE keys 4 And 6 open and close the rear door windows on the right and left respectively, while i keys 7 And 9 they handle the front ones on both sides. Finally, the key 5 turns on the interior lights or, if outside the vehicle, activates the alarm. It was simpler than I thought, am I right?
