How to restart Android, all methods
In this article I will teach you how to restart Android, all available methods. Restarting an Android device could solve problems ranging from phone freezing or app crashing to almost slowing it down completely. A successful restart will close all open apps and clear the device memory.
How to restart Android, all methods
However, with so many different Android smartphones and tablets, restarting an Android phone isn’t always easy. While the specifications may be different, the guidelines below should generally apply regardless of who made your Android phone: Samsung, Google, Huawei, Xiaomi, etc.
1. Forced reboot Android
Restart your Android phone by pressing the power button and holding it for a few seconds. The power button is usually located on the right side of the device. After a few seconds, a menu with the shutdown option should appear. If you have the latest version of the Android OS, you may have other options including Restart.
It’s best to choose Restart if it’s available, but if not, don’t worry. The only real difference between Shutdown and Restart is the need to press the power button again after the screen goes dark. You may need to hold this button down for 3-5 seconds before the device turns on again.
2. How to restart the phone an android tablet
Even when the Android OS is unable to display the shutdown menu, a forced restart, which is not to be confused with a reset or a device manufacturer reset.
Due to the amount of processes and applications running every day, Android devices end up crashing or experiencing problems. Anyone who knows a bit of technology knows that such situations are common and simple; for average users, on the other hand, they can be extremely frustrating. To solve the problem, restart the device and use it again as normal.
Simply put, a forced reboot sets things right. This process could be complicated just because not all Android devices are programmed to perform a forced restart in the same way.
Many devices reboot even if you keep holding the power button. It may take 10 to 20 seconds for the system to reboot. If it does not restart after 20 seconds, you need to read the next paragraph
You should always try the first two methods first. Both methods work like this, they tell the operating system to perform the shutdown process. But if the operating system is unresponsive, you can tell the Android smartphone or tablet to shut down immediately by holding down both the power button and the volume up button.
You may need to hold them for up to twenty seconds before the screen goes black, which will signal that the device has shut down.
Not all Android devices immediately shut down with this method. Some may require you to hold down the power button and both volume buttons, so if you’re not lucky enough to hold the volume up, try holding down all three buttons.
3. How to restart Android by removing the battery
This only works if you have a removable battery, but it can be a great method if you’ve run out of all other options. Of course, you should only do this if you feel comfortable removing the battery from a smartphone or tablet.
Do not touch the battery or any component of the device with your fingers. Instead, use a piece of plastic such as a guitar pick to take out the drums. Some devices include a battery latch or switch that must be pressed to pull the battery out.
4. Just close the apps
It is not always necessary to reboot to fix problems. If your device is running slowly, simply closing some apps might help. When you leave an app open, Android keeps it ready and available so you can quickly get back to it.
You can view the most recent apps by opening the activity screen, which displays the most recent apps in a cascade of windows that you can scroll by swiping up or down. If you touch the X in the top right corner of the app window, Android will completely exit the app.
How do I get to the activities screen? On Android devices with three buttons at the bottom of the screen, simply tap the far right button with the square or two squares on top of each other. It could be a physical button below the screen or for devices like Google Nexus, it could be buttons on the screen.
On newer Android devices, the recently used apps they may be on the left side of the bottom navigation menu. And you can close the apps open in this view by pressing the X on each app, or you can tap the button Close everything at the bottom of the screen to close all open apps. On many tablets you find the same options.
If these options don’t work to close open apps, you may need to press and hold or double-tap the Home button. This button might look like a circle or have a photo of a house on it and is typically in the center of the bottom three buttons or in the bottom navigation menu.
By holding or double tapping the button, a menu with several options is displayed, including one for the task manager. On some phones, the button will have an icon like a pie chart.
