How to set up auto-complete on iPhone

andThe OS has numerous functions that make our everyday life easier. One of them is the auto-fill-in feature. People who actively use the benefits of the Internet must repeatedly enter logins, passwords, contact details or payment card number data on various websites. Fortunately, the auto-fill-in function embedded in iOS saves time and eliminates the possibility of making a mistake when entering this data.

Autocomplete contact details

In order for the automatic form filling function to work as it should, it is worth making sure that our contact details are up-to-date in the phone’s memory. Autofill takes contact details from a special record in the phone book marked as my business card. My business card appears at the very top of the contact list. The first step to use the auto-fill-in function should be to complete or update the data in the business card.

How to update information in a listing:

  1. Open the app Contacts, then click My business card.
  2. Click on the button Edition visible in the upper right corner of the screen. Complete or update all fields. The more data you provide, the more data will be automatically entered into the forms.
  3. To save changes, click the button OKAY visible in the upper right corner of the screen.

In order for the web browser to use the auto-fill-in function, you need to enable this option in the settings.

How to enable autofill of contact information in Safari:

  1. Launch the application Settings
  2. Scroll down the screen and open it Safari settings.
  3. From the section General choose Filling.
  4. Move the slider to the right on the option Use contact details.

Autocomplete payment card details

In the same way, a web browser can enter your payment card details in forms. For this, you should save your payment card details to your iPhone’s memory first.

To add payment card details:

  1. Launch the application Settings
  2. Scroll down the screen and open it Safari settings.
  3. From the section General choose Filling. Then tap Saved credit cards and choose Add a credit card. You can add a new card by entering its data manually or by using the camera.

Remember: for security reasons, no CVV2 / CVC2 / CID codes are stored in the phone. When making purchases on the Internet, you will need to enter this code manually.

If you are using a Mac computer linked to your iPhone with the same Apple ID and you previously used the Autofill credit card information feature in Safari for macOS, the list on your iPhone may show card information previously saved on your computer. Similarly, the data of the cards entered in the iPhone will be visible in Safari for macOS.

Remember: The system does not automatically remove expired cards, so from time to time it is a good idea to review the cards list and sort them manually.

In order for the web browser to use the function of automatically entering card data into forms, you must enable this option in the settings.

To enable autofill of payment card details:

  1. Launch the application Settings
  2. Scroll down the screen and open it Safari settings.
  3. From the section General choose Filling.
  4. Move the slider to the right on the option Credit cards.

In the same way, a web browser can enter logins and passwords in forms. For this, you should activate iCloud Keychain.

To activate a keychain:

  1. Launch the application Settings and click on your business card.
  2. Then select iCloud and Bunch of keys. Move the switch to the right next to the option ICloud Keychain.

Once the Keychain has been activated, all you need to do is to turn on the option to auto-fill logins and passwords.
