Working online with a blog or website

One of the first “roads” you can consider going for work online is that of open a blog or website. In order to transform a Web space into an opportunity to earn money, therefore into a full-fledged job, it is necessary to have the right business idea, select a market where established companies are not already present and, fundamentally important, be willing to devote a lot of time to the care of the contents that will be published online.

Of course, by opening a Web space, the earnings will not be generated automatically simply by following the precautions I mentioned earlier: to monetize a blog or a website, in fact, you need to have a lot of patience and perseverance since the first fruits of your work they are usually harvested after the first year of work.

But how exactly does a blog or website generate revenue? This is a question that I am asked very often, since I also work through the blog that bears my surname (BestyGame.com precisely!). If we want to keep it simple, a significant component of the earnings of a Web space comes from advertising revenues coming from adding banners after subscribing to services such as Google Adsense. As you can well imagine, however, to earn from advertising it is necessary to generate high traffic since the revenues will be commensurate with the number of unique visitors who will go to your blog / website.

Another source of income is represented by membership of the affiliate programs, like the one from Amazon (which I told you about in depth in another tutorial). In this case, the earnings are the sales generated by inserting sponsored links within the content published on your web space. If you talk about recipes on your blog, for example, you could link to a planetary mixer or an electric oven that can be purchased on Amazon and, if readers buy it through your link, you will receive a fee. of the e-commerce site (as long as the product is purchased within 24 hours without going through other websites).

A third component of income could derive from the so-called special projects – consultations, interviews, invitations to sector events which include the topics covered on your Web space, advertising campaigns and, more generally, the “transversal” activities to those of your site – which are usually offered to those who have reached a considerable degree of notoriety on the Web and has established himself as an expert in his field.

Would you like more information on how to make money with a website? In this case, I suggest you read not only the tutorial I just linked to you, but also consider the possibility of buying “Il Metodo Aranzulla” (published by Mondadori Electa): a book written by me in which I tell my story of a digital entrepreneur and I also reveal some “tricks of the trade” that can help those who, like you, want to try to create an online business.

Working online with an e-commerce

Open an e-commerce is another opportunity you can consider if you want to work online. There are many services through which you can create an online store: you can rely, for example, on Shopify that allows you to create professional online e-commerce in just a few clicks, starting from fully customizable themes.

With over 1,000,000 stores already active around the world, Shopify provides users with unlimited secure hosting, unlimited bandwidth, a free shopify.com domain name (with the option to purchase a custom one or use an existing one) and everything you need to manage products, orders, customers, payments, shipments, inventory, marketing campaigns (to be created on Google, Facebook, via email or SMS), statistics and more.

The service can be tried for free for a limited period (without entering payment data), after which, if you want to continue using it, you have to choose between various paid plans, starting from $ 29 / month with unlimited products, possibility to offer codes discount to its customers and much more.

Going into more detail, to create an e-commerce on Shopify, just connect to the official website of the service, type your email address and click on the button Start your free trial. Once this is done, all you have to do is fill in the new form that is proposed to you with the password you want to use for your store and the first name that you want to assign to him. After that you have to click on the button Create your shop.

After this step too, he points out if you have already started selling, what your current income is And if you are creating a store for a customer, enter the rest of the requested information and click on the button Come on (or up Jump, if you want to skip the step). Then provide theaddress to receive payments and, within a few moments, you will access the Shopify management panel.

Well: now you just have to navigate the menu on the left and manage your e-commerce as you see fit. It’s all very intuitive: the voice Home allows you to view the main dashboard of the store; Orders allows you to manage orders; Products allows you to add and manage products; Clients allows you to manage the customer list; Analyses allows you to view sales statistics; Marketing to set up marketing campaigns; Discounts to set up discount codes; App allows you to expand e-commerce with additional functions, while Online shop allows you to customize the appearance of the pages.

If you are often away from home, you will be pleased that you can also create and manage an e-commerce from smartphones and tablets, through the Shopify app for Android and iOS / iPadOS. Do you already work for a company, but have no intention of firing yourself to be able to work from home? And who said you have to do it ?! If you want, you can try asking your employer to give you the chance to work remotely (at least a few days a week and as long as this possibility is compatible with your profession).

To try to “convince him” you could perhaps explain some advantages that the company itself could have by giving you the opportunity to work in telework: it has been proven, in fact, that employees who are offered the opportunity to work from home are usually more productive. of those who work in the office as they avoid the stress of traveling, can enjoy the welcoming environment of their own during working hours and flexibly manage their commitments. Of course, it will then be up to your boss to decide whether to give you the opportunity to work from home or not but, as they say in these cases, trying doesn’t hurt!

If you are a freelancer, however, everything is much simpler since you are the “boss” of yourself: depending on your needs, you can in fact decide to work from home on certain days of the week or permanently (saving money, so , the rent of your office).
