For $299, the user will get a 10.1-inch IPS screen with 1920 x 1200 resolution, Huawei’s Kirin 659 processor and 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage and Android 8.0 Oreo. Despite being aimed at families, there are some nice features on the tablet, which include a fingerprint scanner to manage multiple accounts on the device, a USB C port with fast charge, microSD card slot, quad speakers tuned by Harman Kardon and an M-Pen Lite Stylus for drawing and drawing. That’s a very affordable price for what they’re going to ask for it.
Huawei says the device should last about 11 hours of video playback and can recharge in less than 3 hours, which is good, and there are some kid-friendly features built right into the software. Kid’s Corner, for example, has a special interface that is only activated on a child’s account, which simplifies the experience and restricts access to certain applications. Logging in with a normal user’s fingerprint will bring the tablet to a normal Android experience, where the user can do whatever they want, just like any other device.
The concept is reminiscent of what Lenovo tried to do with some of their tablets, but luckily Huawei has put more space in their tablet, hopefully it will replace the “family computer” of the past.
