The official name of the next Chipset has yet to be confirmed, but we’ve all been calling it the SnapDragon 875. Going by the names of previous generations, it makes sense that the SD865 will be replaced by the Snapdragon 875.

The successor SoC of Snapdragon 865 will be made official on December 1st at Tech Summit Event from Qualcomm. The official name of the next Chipset has yet to be confirmed, but we’ve all been calling it the SnapDragon 875. Going by the names of previous generations, it makes sense that the SD865 is replaced by the Snapdragon 875. Samsung and Xiaomi should be among the first companies to launch phones with SD875 in the first quarter of next year. In recent years, LG has also been one of the first brands to introduce high-end smartphones with the newest flagship Snapdragon Chipset.

According to a usual source of industry secrets that quotes information from a south korean website, LG will only release a phone with the Snapdragon 875 mobile platform in the first half of 2021.

The site claims that LG is not on the list of companies that have placed orders for the SD875 chipset. Instead of the SD875, the South Korean company has placed a bulk order for the next upper mid-range Snapdragon 775 SoC.

The reason behind this may be the change the company has brought to its mobile technology business. Previously, the company launched a G-series flagship phone in the first half of the year and a V-series flagship phone in the second half.

This year, LG did not release a G-series smartphone. Instead, it announced the LG V60 ThinQ in February and the new upper mid-range phone called the LG VELVET in May. It recently unveiled the experimental LG Wing FlagShip and it looks like there’s no other FlagShip phone planned this year.

LG VELVET introduced the Snapdragon 765G chipset. So it looks like the Snapdragon 775 can power the successor to VELVET. As in 2020, the new VELVET phone could debut in the second quarter of next year.
