M-commerce – why is it worth being interested in it?

More and more data argues that it is not so much worth optimizing your e-commerce in terms of mobile phones, as it is even a dogma of new media.

Most of the people reading this text will be viewing it in their small command center. Of course, we are talking about a smartphone, which is an indispensable part of our life – an extension of our body, our will and also our business! According to Gemius / PBI, in April 2019 the number of internet users in Poland was 28.2 million. According to the study, 23.7 million people used personal computers and laptops at that time, and 24.2 million – mobile devices. Conversions made with the use of mobile equipment were then 61%. for a smartphone and 27 percent. for tablet.

The data from two years ago sounded optimistic for m-commerce, however, it is worth taking into account the newer information that is even more encouraging.

From year to year, you can see the increasingly stronger position of mobile. Although they are still not inferior to laptops in terms of network use, the article by Rzeczpospolita showed what opinion the largest Polish e-commerce players have on this subject. The number of users buying via mobile on Allegro increased in 2020 by 31 percent compared to 2019. On Empik’s websites, traffic from mobile devices has been 60 percent since the outbreak of the pandemic. The LPP company even began to adhere to the principle mobile firstseeing that more than half of their earnings are generated through smartphones. The mobile channel of the Merlin platform increased by 3 percent in 2020. to 37 percent, compared to 34 percent. in 2019.

Specialists began to notice the phenomenon as well omnichannel and the interpenetration of channels on the customer journey path. – We can see that the customer often starts a purchase in one place, e.g. in a mobile application, and ends it in another, e.g. in a stationary store. Certainly, most customers look for inspiration, watch products on the Internet, and many of them finally buy online – said Daria Sulgostowska – This is a constantly growing trend, and the situation related to Covid-19 additionally stimulated this growth. According to our analyzes, in April users were even more likely to visit our applications than in previous months – added a spokesman for CCC. (Republic)

From the report “E-Commerce in Poland. Gemius for e-Commerce Polska “ we can discover that 73% of online purchases have already been made. Polish internet users, where 32 percent. this group consists of people aged 35-49. Next in line were seniors, that is people over 50 years of age. Over 28 percent of buyers are the silver generation, i.e. people between 50 and 55 years of age. This fact caused quite a stir among marketers who realized that they underestimated the seriousness of baby boomers’ purchasing opportunities.

Digital trading is on the rise!

Regarding the underestimated target group – the MobileTrends.pl website cites data from the Hootsuite report, which show the senior group as the most dynamically developing segment of Internet users.

Hootsuite’s Digital 2021 Report points out that 5.22 billion people already use a mobile phone, which is 67%. the entire world population. The number of unique mobile users increased by less than 2 percent. (93 million) as of January 2020. At that time, the total number of mobile connections increased – by 72 million – to the level of 8.02 billion in the corresponding period of 2021.

Why is it worth implementing “m tactic” in your e-commerce?

Remodeling your online store for mobile devices will lead to more conversions, more customers visiting your site, and therefore more sales and higher profits. Importantly, and perhaps most importantly, the satisfaction of consumers will increase, as they will not have to struggle with going through the arduous purchasing process or switching to other devices during it. This will affect loyalty and recommending the offer of a given store. Mobile is also about innovation, i.e. possible means of promotion, e.g. through push marketingwhich may be limited or impossible to implement on other devices. All these factors will influence the brand image – a positive brand image. Mobile Commerce is the future of every online store!

What can mobile developers focus on when designing a mobile store? – UX rushes towards development!

Smartbees.pl advises to focus on the menu, to make it optimized for the screens of small devices and to make the interaction support convenient for users of phones or tablets. Do not forget about the buttons, appropriate space management – which is much less on the phone than on the computer, as well as the appropriate presentation of products and convenient filtering.

The most interesting thing seems to be the implementation of gesture support in your online store and the most limited purchase finalization processes. One should not forget about the clarity and security that the user must feel when using the platform.

The popularity of remote usability testing has grown recently. This fact, combined with the growing importance of research and analytics in the organization’s UX departments, meant that ecom.house.pl is able to bring us closer to what trends will intensify on the mobile shopping market.

More and more stores will be able to see their products on models, thanks to the use of 360 ° photosand changing the context of presenting products – from white and gray walls to real scenery. It will also increase augmented reality sharewhich can be used to even try on clothes or try the color of the new lipstick on the lips. There is also a lot of evidence that the possibilities are developing search for products by picture straight from the search engine, a dark mode will stay for good in most websites and web applications.
