Mark Rein, vice president of developer Epic Games, said that the relationship between Epic and publisher Midway remains strong and that a major expansion for Unreal Tournament III is currently underway. Rein stated:

“Midway is still very much the publisher of Unreal Tournament 3. In fact, we’re working together on a major expansion to Unreal Tournament 3, that we expect will excite and grow our UT3 customer base which, incidentally, now numbers over a million units sold through worldwide.”

No further details about the expansion were given, but it’s good news for fans of Unreal Tournament III anyway.

Unreal Tournament III is a completely new Unreal Tournament, taking an even bigger leap between the original Unreal Tournament and the 2003 and 2004 versions. This new part continues the well-known Unreal Tournament concept: as a futuristic warrior you take part in many fierce battles against strong enemies. Make clever use of the most powerful sci-fi weapons and vehicles to lead yourself to victory. Thanks to the strong Unreal Engine 3, Unreal Tournament III is graphically solid and there is also plenty of fast action online. Add to that the fact that you also get an extensive Unreal Engine 3 toolset to create your own levels, game types or mods and it is clear that UT 3 is a first person shooter at its best!
