Microsoft and Yahoo will be free to terminate their agreement

A few days ago we talked about the renewal of the partnership between Microsoft And Yahoo which, among other things, provides greater flexibility for the latter in the use of search results.

A variation in the terms that we had not yet discussed is the possibility for both companies to terminate agreements at any time (subject to notice) starting from 1 October this year. Until the renewal of the contract, the situation was decidedly different, as Yahoo could leave Microsoft only if a minimum amount of earnings.

The two companies have not yet commented on this, but it seems that both companies say they are happy with the new agreements, despite in 2013 the CEO of Yahoo, Marissa Mayer, complained that i profits generated by the agreement were less than expected.

In any case, the latest amendments to the contract also include a increase in Yahoo’s advertising revenue of its pages: the company will hold the 93% of revenue, significantly more than the previous 90% or 88% of the first 5 years of partnership.
