Yesterday, after a long time, the rumor resurfaced about a possible Xbox 360 version of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. Today, Xbox Live boss John Schappert responded to the rumors.

According to Schappert, the Xbox 360 is powerful enough to handle Metal Gear Solid 4. He went on to say that it would be great to expand the franchise to Xbox 360. His statement was as follows:

“I can’t speak on behalf of Konami, but I can shed more light on the fact that we definitely have the power to run MGS4. I’m certainly in the fan club that would love to see Kojima-san’s masterpiece come our way.”

“It would be wonderful to play Metal Gear Solid on the Xbox. It could become another of the many franchises that started their life on another console that are now coming our way. There are a lot of recent examples that are in true high-def on our platform and aren’t on PS3. We’ve got an amazing amount of horsepower and graphics power.”

Even before the denial of Konami, Microsoft is already making very positive noises. Maybe it’s time for both companies to open up…

With this fourth installment, Metal Gear Solid makes the transition to the next generation of consoles and also to the future. This fourth part will not be set in the 1960s, but after the events of the second part, Sons of Liberty. Solid Snake has also become a day older and complete with gray hair, mustache and bionic eye he will have to fight in this futuristic war. Where the first two parts were mainly set in building complexes and the third part was situated in the jungle, Guns of the Patriots mostly takes place in a destroyed city. Walls have been smashed by the artillery, buildings are half crumbled in the streets and soldiers and mechs are everywhere. Furthermore, it is no longer Snake alone against the rest, but is caught in a war between two fronts. He has more freedom in this large, destroyed city and can therefore also make more use of the environment.
