We just got on Google play a new version of our Free speed test for Android. This update fixes bugs related to the latest versions of Android on high-end smartphones.
More of 300,000 downloads and more than 25,000 daily uses are the figures of our speed test for Android. The application that has been on Google Play for a long time has just been updated to version 0.0.7 which fixes bugs related to the latest versions of Android that misplaced the needle on the speedometer. In principle, it should work correctly on all smartphones that run versions of Google’s operating system higher than 2.X.
The application allows measure accurately the speed at which the phone is connected via 3G or via WiFi. It is important to note that we have collected comments in which users indicate that they have 50 or 100 megabytes of speed but the application shows them “only 20 megabytes”. This is because smartphones are not capable of connecting at the same speed as a laptop can. It depends on the model and also on the range.
The app also measures the network latency (ping for those who play online), stores the history of results to check the evolution of coverage in an area, allows the results to be shared on Twitter and geo-positions the analyzes in order to build speed maps that allow users to know what fast or slow operating operators in certain areas.
