New screenshots from The Shadow of the Colossus

Sony has released new screenshots of The Shadow of the Colossus. This sequel to Ico is set in the same universe but with a completely different storyline. However, it already seems to be a legendary title, just like its predecessor.

In The Shadow of the Colossus you will have to bring her friend back to life with the girl Wanda. This is only possible by defeating the 16 giants that are in the world of Ico. With Wanda you ride on her horse to one of these giant creatures and you first complete a level that mainly consists of puzzles. Once you get to the giant you will have to find a way to kill him, which is very tricky. They are so unbelievably big and you feel so unbelievably tiny when you come face to face with these immense creatures. His weak spot is usually at the very top and it can easily take you half an hour to get him down. The Shadow of the Colossus seems to be excelling again in new gameplay and a breathtakingly beautiful world, just like Ico.

The Shadow of the Colossus should be available for purchase for the PlayStation 2 in early 2006.
