OnePlus announces line of smartphones at affordable prices
Surprise: OnePlus today announced a new range of smartphones at affordable prices by means of a press release. Of course, this is not really a surprise, this is exactly what has been suggested several times in the last few weeks and was even confirmed in an interview by a high-ranking employee.
The new series, which will probably be called “Nord by OnePlus”, will initially start in Europe and India. Later one would like to take the step towards North America. The head of the new product team is Paul Yu, he has led the development of the product hardware for many OnePlus flagship smartphones for the past five years. In addition, a young, creative and enthusiastic team worked to bring the new product line to life.
Pete Lau, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of OnePlus: “We have been working for over six years to give flagship smartphone users the best possible experience. Because we are closely connected to our community, we know that many want a solid smartphone for everyday use – and at a more affordable price. “
And when will the new and affordable smartphone range be presented? Well, OnePlus is still silent about this in the press release. The emphasis is on “still”. I’m pretty sure that we will learn more about the new series in the next few days – including what to expect in terms of hardware.
By-the-way: I wouldn’t be surprised if the new smartphone series were based on the OPPO Find X2 Lite and Find X2 Neo. As is well known, OnePlus and OPPO are subordinate to the same parent company BBK Electronics – at least halfway. Meanwhile, I no longer have a complete overview at BBK Electronics.
