Overwatch: New details about its Eichenwalde map including a Dark Souls easter egg

It’s only been a few days since Blizzard announced a new map for Overwatch at Gamescom 2016 in Cologne, Germany. Its name is Eichenwalde and it transports us to a small German town crowned by the presence of a Germanic castle. The map is already available on the public test server and we want to give you some more information about it.

As Kotaku’s teammates point out, Eichenwalde is a map that overly favors the defending team, as each main street has other side alleys that allow for spectacular flankings and ambushes. Apparently it is a small map, which offers quick games and the possibility of falling into the void quite easily, so you have to be careful so that this does not happen.

On the other hand, Eichenwalde also has a magnificent and instantly recognizable Easter egg from the Dark Souls saga. It is a bonfire in which there is a stuck sword. It seems that if a castle does not put a bonfire in reference to the Souls franchise, it is not a real castle. Here is the easter egg.
