Rock Band 2: The Opening Act Announced, Coming September in US

Although we Europeans still have to wait for the first Rock Band part to hit stores, the second part has already been announced for the United States. Rock Band 2: The Opening Act should be in stores from September for the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 version will follow later.

Rock Band 2: The Opening Act is a game that should transfer the musical boyhood dream in a virtual form to the next-gen consoles. The Rock Band games are being developed by Harmonix, a developer who pioneered the Guitar Hero series. The game can be played with four people who use controllers in the form of instruments (microphone, two guitars and a drum kit) to play music from big rock stars. The vast majority of the songs contain heavy rock, of course, but genres such as classic and country are also included.

Rock Band 2: The Opening Act should introduce new instruments, but your accessories from the first part are still usable. In addition, the second part is also backwards compatible with songs you downloaded for the first part, which can be used for free in The Opening Act. In addition, the standard tracklist of Rock Band 2: The Opening Act must already be of an incredibly high level, says Dan Teasdale of Harmonix;

    On that note, we’ve also secured what I can easily say is the best setlist I’ve ever seen in a music game. The PR team would kill me if I revealed some early, but it reads like a who’s who list of rock music. We have a couple of surprises that we’ll be announcing soon regarding this.

Rock Band 2: The Opening Act should be in American stores from September for the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 version will follow later. A European release date is not yet known. It is even uncertain when and if the first part will be released here.
