Rockstar temporarily suspends production of GTA: San Andreas

Rockstar Games has temporarily halted production of GTA: San Andreas. This is because of the so-called Hot-Coffee mod about which you can read more in this post. Rockstar will release a new version in which the *** scenes will no longer be playable. This new version is expected in the fourth quarter of 2005. Nothing will happen with the versions that are currently in the shops.

Despite this move by Rockstar, the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB) in America has decided to increase the game’s age rating in the United States from Mature (17+) to Adults Only (18+). This could have quite significant consequences, as many US stores refuse to sell Adults Only games.

In a statement, it was said that a patch for the PC version will be released soon that will remove the minigame. Rockstar also expects a drop in profits due to the entire affair surrounding the Hot-Coffee mod.
