With the expansion of manufacturing facilities in India, Samsung plans to produce 108 million smartphones by 2026, focusing on mid-range and affordable devices for emerging markets such as India and China.
Samsung has a factory in India, Indonesia, Vietnam and Brazil. These factories will likely remain the same this year. But from 2022 they will change. The focus seems to be on the huge customer base that India offers. By 2026, 25% of Samsung’s production will come from India.
With this new plan, Samsung aims to ensure that no installation exceeds more than 30% of total production numbers, which means less waste and better efficiency throughout the supply chain.
Samsung is relocating production from two of its factories in Vietnam. The move will see both Samsung’s factories in Vietnam produce a smaller amount, about 163 million units a year. This change is part of the company’s long-term objective to redistribute risk. With the expansion of its manufacturing facilities in India, Samsung will manufacture 108 million smartphones by 2026, with an emphasis on mid-range and low-end devices for emerging markets such as India and China. In this new plan, Samsung seeks to ensure that no installation exceeds 30% of total production, which means less waste and better efficiency across the entire supply chain management. They are also committed to building a strong ecosystem around their products through local partnerships with operators, retailers and content providers.
