Facial recognition on Android devices is more of a curiosity than sufficient protection against unauthorized access. Many smartphone manufacturers offer these types of solutions to their customers, but they only complement other methods of unlocking access using biometric data, of which in-screen readers are recently in vogue. The potential of secure facial recognition is warned by Google itself, which, according to the latest reports, collects data to allow the development of its own system similar to the Face ID offered by Apple.

As reported by ZDNet and AndroidPolice, in at least two American cities, New York and Miami, Google employees seek help from passersby. By offering them gift cards for Starbucks or Amazon in the amount of $ 5 (approximately PLN 19), they ask for the ability to scan your face using a mobile device hidden in a large case or a modified Pixel 3 XL. This mysterious and masked team is probably the Pixel 4, which in recent weeks is increasingly the hero of new rumors and leaks. A selfie taken this way and a more accurate scan of the image will allow faster development of the technology used for facial recognition in devices to be announced in the future. Unfortunately, there is no information on how this information is processed, used, and most importantly when it will be deleted.
