vivid color contrast

Wiko bet on a simple but safe design with the Jerry 3 following a trend already approved by users that is a reflection of other more reputable equipment on the market, a plastic construction, but when we hold it it has a good grip, partly because of the choice of its materials, it has a good weight ratio and distribution, however its rear, which is removable, is fragile and tends to bend with some ease.

Wiko bet on bright colors for the Jerry 3, which give it a bold look, in the case of the version we tested, red color, makes a great contrast with the white front. Including, the fact that its back is removable allows users to have several color options, just change the back. It reminds us of something my generation used to do with the Nokia 3330. Which makes us wonder if Wiko wants to capture the attention of a younger generation with this design and multiple color possibilities, despite the most basic hardware, which is a downside for newer generations who are always looking for the latest hardware.

Performance

This will be a complicated topic to analyze, as it will always depend on the use given to it, the jerry 3 is the bet of wiki In the project Android Oreo GO edition, which aims to show that even with the most basic hardware it is possible to have reasonable use with Android.

Under the hood of Jerry 3 we have a MediaTek MT6580M chipset a Quad-core processor with a 32-bit CPU architecture. The 4 processor cores run at a speed of 1.3 GHz with a 28nm processing technology, while the graphics processor is a ARM Mali-400 MP2, which comes with 2 cores and speeds of 416MHz.

To carry out your various tasks, you can only count on 1 GB of RAM with a memory speed of 533 MHz. As for storage, we were limited in space, as the Jerry 3 comes with 16 GB available, taking part of them for the operating system, but we can always use a microSD card, and expand the storage up to 64GB. Although these are not out of the ordinary specs, as Jerry 3 comes with the Oreo Go edition which is optimized for this range of hardware, we managed to get decent usage. The problem is when we choose applications that are not optimized, and then we start pulling our hair.

During our use with Google Store apps that are optimized or “apps”lite” we had a decent performance, a few hurdles here and there, but nothing much, but as soon as we moved to more complex applications or with a demanding graphical interface, we felt that Jerry 3 was already having difficulty responding.

In terms of benchmark scores as you would expect we didn’t get a spectacular score, but as we’ve already mentioned, these tests don’t reveal the daily reality, in tests done in AnTuTu Jerry 3 got 20233 points, and in the Geekbench in single core tests it got 431 points and 1099 in multi-core.

Jerry 3 comes with an interface very similar to what we have in a stock experience, with small changes implemented by Wiko, gesture system, and a resource manager are examples of this, apart from that we have access to a stock experience such as Android Oreo offers .

Screen

This was the first smartphone in the Jerry line without large screen borders, with an 18:9 ratio, we have to admit that this screen layout is quite inviting and attractive.

With 5.45 inches FWVGA IPS + capacitive touchscreen, it is a screen comparable to cheaper devices with a resolution of 960 x 480 pixels, with 197 pixels per inch. The screen with curved glass provides some protection and strength to the smartphone, however it is not one of the brightest screens which makes its use in sunlight practically useless.

Chambers

In the photography department, the 5 megapixel rear camera offers the basic features, such as face detection, digital zoom, HDR, ISO settings, we can count on an LED flash located under it, and the photo sensor, it can capture photos with 2582 x 1936 pixels, as well as recording videos at 720p at 30 frames per second, while the front camera has a standard 5 megapixel sensor.

Both cameras are quick to focus and take photos, although they don’t produce spectacular results, they are more than enough for an occasional user, who wants to publish photos on their social networks.

Drums

To power the Wiko Jerry 3 we have a 2500mAh removable Li-Ion battery, without fast charging technology. Even so, we managed to have a full charge within 2 hours and whatever. In terms of autonomy during our use of the Jerry 3 as our daily driver, the 2500 mAh amounted to a full day, between social networks, calls, messages, photos and multimedia. Much of its autonomy is due to the management that Android Oreo offers, and of course the most basic hardware does not need as much energy for its operation.

Not forgetting that as it is a removable battery, we can always have an extra with us, in case the main one dies and we really need to reply to that message.

Conclusion

The wiko Jerry 3 is a low-end device, which despite its limited hardware for today, is based on a system optimized for it, if you are looking for a cheap smartphone or if your use is light, this device is the one ideal for . But if on the other hand you like technology and want to have a fluid experience with any type of use, this smartphone is not the most recommended, it’s possible, but it won’t be a relaxing experience.
