The pre-sale of grell TWS / 1 headphones has started
Former Sennheiser engineer Axel Grell has produced a pair of ANC – TWS / 1 True Wireless Active Noise Canceling Headphones worth $ 200.
In 2019, Axel Grell, designer of the legendary Sennheiser HD580 and HD800 headphones, left the company to start his own company, Grell Audio. Two years later, the startup releases the first pair of true-to-name wireless headphones GRP / 1. When they go on sale next month, they will cost $ 200.
They have components individually sourced and designed by Grell. Highlights include custom 10mm drivers, ANC (Active Noise Reduction) support, and a proprietary feature called Noise Annoyance Reduction (NAR) that translates to annoying noise reduction. According to grell, NAR perfectly eliminates the most bothersome sounds.
The codec support is also extensive. In addition to the basics like SBC and AAC, the earbuds can connect to the device supporting LHDC, aptX, aptX HD and aptX adaptive. Apart from a few proprietary formats from Sony, the only thing missing here is Qualcomm’s recently announced aptX Lossless codec. TWS / 1 are designed to withstand up to 28 hours of battery life of the headphones and the included charging case.
Grell plans to sell TWS / 1 headphones exclusively through its website and Drop. Pre-orders are open today and general availability will be available in November 2021. The Drop version of the headphones will be known as tws.01 and will have a completely black finish and an extra set of blue tips.
The sale of GRP / 1 will start next month.
