The works council does not consider the concept of the consultant bank to be realizable

Too much work, too few employees, high turnover – the employee representatives at Dresdner Bank have made it clear internally why they believe the “consulting bank” concept is a failure. Dresdner Bank is “further away than ever before” from the target image of the consulting bank.

As can be seen from a letter to the employees, the workload due to the downsizing is so high that processes are left undone and employee turnover increases sharply. “Due to the reduction in staff, which does not take into account the existing workload, processing problems, product variety, employee burdens and customer wishes, the bank has moved further away from its target as a consultant bank than ever before,” says the works council letter, which is available to WirtschaftsWoche.

The future program “Neue Dresdner Plus” (NDP) is responsible for this. The ability to provide services in particular has suffered greatly as a result of the implementation of the NDP. Processing times of sometimes several weeks did not impress any customer. Therefore, the size of the workforce must be reconsidered by the board. The result of this situation is that applicants from other banks are increasingly refraining from “taking up employment at our bank, even though they have a signed employment contract in their pockets,” criticizes the works council. The board recently admitted that “it is monitoring the turnover rate with concern”.
