VooMote One, or make an iPhone TV remote control

The German company Hama introduces a special overlay called VooMote One, which makes the iPhone a remote control for a TV set, satellite set-top box, audio equipment and other electronic devices.

The German overlay looks like a small shell into which you should insert your iPhone (the equipment also works with the iPod). Then download free applications from the App Store e-store that allow you to control your home electronics using a smartphone or an MP3 player. The manufacturer of the overlay claims that this way you can remotely control 98% of TV and audio-video devices available on the market. For others, you can manually configure the settings by communicating between the iPhone and the original remote control via the infrared interface. This is how the smartphone (or iPod)? Will learn? the right signals. As for the recognition of the iPhone by the overlay, it is done automatically. During the installation process, the user is guided by the hand, which will be appreciated by those who are a little less proficient in electronics.

Hama specialists emphasize that the iPhone as a remote control is still a fully functional smartphone. So you can easily control several TV and audio-video devices, as well as talk, write SMS and use the Internet. Moving between individual activities is as intuitive as before. VooMote One overlay works with iPhone 3G, 3GS and 4, as well as second, third and fourth generation iPods. The product is covered by a one-year manufacturer’s warranty. It is not known if and when the VooMote One overlay will hit the Polish market.
