Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite starts global rollout, starting with France and Ukraine

Last month Xiaomi announced the Mi 8 Lite as the most affordable option in its flagship range, but the phone was only introduced to the Chinese market. It eventually made it to Ukraine and now Donovan Sung, the company’s global spokesman, said on Twitter that France will also sell the Lite variant of the Mi-8 and that other markets will follow suit very soon.

The device was initially introduced in a gradient Twilight Gold, Dream Blue and cleaner colors of Deep Space Grey. It looks like all three options are going to hit the global stage, as Sung is setting us up for “some colorful mix-ups”.

The device initially arrived in three memory configurations – 4/64GB, 6/64GB and 6/128GB. Prices were CNY1,399, CNY1,699 and CNY1,999 respectively. This translates from $205/€175 to $290/€250, but we were expecting a slightly higher price in Europe and other markets, after taxes and import duties are added.

When it comes to the specs, the Mi 8 Lite is powered by the 2.2GHz Snapdragon 660. The device has a 6.26-inch IPS LCD screen with a 19:9 aspect ratio and Notch. As for the camera department, it consists of a dual setup on the back with a pair of 12MP + 5MP cameras. On the front, the device features a single but powerful 24MP sensor. The device comes with Android 8.1 Oreo out-the-box with MIUI 10 on top, to accompany these specs we have a 3,350mAh battery.

The Mi 8 Lite was well received by the public due to the combination of specs at a low price, let’s see if it will also be successful in the Global market. As there is no official information on when they will be available, we can only be patient and follow the news from Xiaomi.
