Yahoo! has been the victim of the biggest hack in history
And hackers strike again. This time it was Yahoo! the company that has had to endure the storm, and it has not been very good, by the way, because it has been the victim of one of the largest security breaches in history. This massive attack has compromised the information of 500 million accounts distributed among all the platforms that the Internet giant has in its conglomerate.
It was in August when the attack happened and until now the extent of this massive hack has not been known, which has affected portals such as MySpace, Tumblr, Likedin, Dropbox among others. That so many accounts have been compromised and that Yahoo! could not have done anything to prevent it, it is a fact that may negatively affect the negotiations between this company and Verizon, with which it was reaching a purchase agreement.
From Verizon they seem to be thinking better of it, as Dave Lee, a BBC reporter, confirms on his Twitter account. Before taking the final step, they need to re-evaluate their interests.
As always in these cases, we refer you to this page where you can find out if your data is part of the 500 million compromised accounts. And as always, we urge you to be careful with your personal data and your accounts. No one is safe from being the victim of a massive hack one day, but at least, using the security systems we have in our hands, we can try to keep it from happening to us. We recommend that you do not use the same email and password on different sites. You should also use two-step verification and change your password often.
