After the enormous success of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Many big games have been given their own Battle Royale mode. Even older games are getting battle royale-style updates, but these are thanks to modders.
GTA: San Andreas For a 13-year-old game, it has a surprisingly active fan base, particularly active on fan-created multiplayer servers. Shortly after the start of the successful run of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds created GTA Fans mods with PUBG-like gameplay and integrated it into the aging open world of San Andreas.
Inventory in SaMP’s PUBG Mod
In contrast to Minecraft and Gmodwhich also have Battle Royale mods GTA: San Andreas especially good for playing in PUBG-Style suitable. The game already has parachutes, vehicles, various weapons and a large, varied map, all elements that are important in Battle Royale and are of course used.
It’s such a good combination that in the last few months there have been two different ones GTA San Andreas PUBG Mods became very popular. One uses SAMP and the other MTA. These are two different tools that are used to GTA San Andreas to play online. SAMP stands for “San Andreas Multiplayer” and is the younger of the two online tools, as it has been around since May 2006 available. MTA, “Multi Theft Auto,” give it since 2003so already a year longer than San Andreasand added multiplayer gameplay GTA III, Vice City and finally GTA San Andreas added.
The Battle Royale mode found in MTA is similar PUBG very strong, right down to the menus, logos and user interface elements:
MTA Battlegrounds main menu
PUBG main menu

PUBG’s inventory menu
But the similarities are not limited to the visual, the two mods also offer many features that you can use PUBG knows. They come with fully functional inventories, stats, loot in different quality levels (e.g. level 1 helmet vs. level 2 helmet) and 99 other players; in MTA you can even use frying pans as weapons. All of these elements and mechanics are not part of the original game, which is why these are very extensive mods.
Both mods also use different parts of GTA: San Andreas in a clever way to address some aspects of PUBG to recreate. For example, there was in GTA San Andreas a lot of passerby and NPC models, many of which are used in the mods to provide players with customization options. Clothing was also an important part of San Andreaswhich is why many of the clothing items in the mods can be found as loot.
These mods also reset all the vehicles that are in GTA: San Andreas are available to your advantage, which is why moments are possible that are not possible in other Battle Royale modes – such as being chased by a large semi-truck while driving a muscle car:
Just like PUBG these will too GTA Modes still being improved: upcoming changes promise better weapon damage and more animations. Currently everyone is playing around 200 until 400 Players on the different GTA SA Mod servers these Battlegrounds-like modes. These mods may not be as popular as PUBG or Fortnite, but they find plenty of audience on YouTube. This from PUBG inspired San Andreas Mods are also often played by well-known YouTubers – for example, there is a video from Suarez16who has fun with the MTA mod, already more than 100k views reached.
It’s really strange to now see a game I played more than a decade ago now being transformed into a completely different game. I still recognize all the hills and streets of San Andreas, but all those helmets lying around are definitely new.
