Google Photos v4.6 with Express backup and better data control
A new update to Google Photos is being released, and this one has as its highlight enabling backups in regions where data connections are generally slow and expensive. A new Express backup mode is coming out and automatically reduces images and videos for faster and less costly transmission to the cloud.

There will also be a new setting that allows users to set daily limits on how much data they want to spend on making backups.

Express backup mode, will debut in India
Google Photos has achieved a number of innovations since its launch in 2015, including some cool facial and object recognition features and other clever tricks. But there’s no denying that the biggest feature for most users is cloud backup functionality; particularly the free unlimited backup for high quality photos.
Unfortunately, backing up photos and videos is quite data demanding, which poses some challenges for users on slow or limited connections. As reported by 91mobiles website, Google is working on a new backup mode called Express, which will join the current High and Original quality options. Like the high quality mode, Express reduces the speed of photos and videos, but will be more aggressive with compression, reducing the resolution of photos to 3 megapixels and videos to standard definition.
