The YouTube channel Abandoned Films presented a fictional version of Shrek, filmed in the 1950s. In implementing this idea, the authors were helped by neural networks – Midjourney, Elevenlabs and RunwayAI. The script was invented by ChatGPT.
The video shows the main locations from the cartoon – the city walls and Shrek’s favorite swamp. The main character himself is played by a real actor, but he seems to be wearing a low-quality costume – viewers note that the ogre looked much better in the cartoon.
Music plays in the background of the video, and the announcer tells a short plot of “Shrek”. The authors superimposed the effect of old film on the frames to enhance the feeling of nostalgia.
Viewers appreciated the work, but said that the video reminded them of nightmares:
The video looks like a dream you remember.
