How to move the toolbar down on Windows
If you have a PC with an operating system Windows, you can use different methods to bring the toolbar back to the bottom. One method can be valid for all editions of Windows, from the most recent to the oldest, while another can be used from Windows Vista onwards. Then there are methods applicable only on Windows 10.
Generally speaking, in the next chapters you will find several solutions that can help you solve your problem, thus succeeding in bring the taskbar back to the bottom easily on Windows PCs. If, however, it was completely gone, I will explain how to bring it back to the desktop and then move it where you want it most. Find all the details below.
Move the toolbar down Windows 10
If you have a PC with Windows 10, moving the taskbar is possible from the operating system settings panel. How to do? Nothing simpler. First, launch the appropriate system settings section via one of the following methods.
The simplest is to right-click on the taskbar in any point where there are no icons and select, from the menu that is shown to you, the item Taskbar settings.
Alternatively, you can press the button Start Windows (the flag-shaped one) and select thegear icon that you find in the menu that is shown to you. In the screen that opens, then press on the items Personalization> Taskbar and select the option Down from the drop-down menu under the heading Location of the taskbar on the screen.
The settings will be immediately saved and the taskbar positioned at the bottom, as indicated by you. It was easy, am I right?
Move the toolbar to all versions of Windows
Regardless of the version of the Windows installed on your PC, you can move the toolbar by simply dragging it. If the bar was previously unlocked, all you have to do is keep the left mouse click on the bar (where there are no icons) and drag it down.
If the bar has been moved and then subsequently locked in that position, you must first unlock the taskbar, so that it becomes possible to move it with the cursor. To do this, click with the right mouse button in a place on the bar where there are no icons or buttons and remove the check mark from the item Lock the taskbar attached to the menu that is shown to you.
At this point, click somewhere on the bar where there are no icons or buttons, hold down and drag the bar to the bottom of the screen. After replacing the taskbar in its original location, do it again right click above it and put the check mark back next to the item Lock the taskbar to lock its position.
Once you have carried out these steps you can finally feel satisfied: you managed to bring the toolbar back down, congratulations! Since it wasn’t as complicated as you thought?
Clearly, in case you have to think again and want to place the toolbar on any other side of the desktop, all you have to do is carry out the whole procedure that I have just indicated, taking care, this time, to position the taskbar at the point you prefer.
Move the toolbar down to Windows 7
If your computer has installed Windows 7 (or earlier, it also works on View), you can easily bring the toolbar back down. You must first do right click in a place on the bar where there are no icons or buttons and select the item Property from the menu that appears.
In the window that opens, select the item Down from the drop-down menu next to the wording Location of the taskbar on the screen. Now, click the button first Apply and then on OK to place the taskbar at the bottom of the screen and save the settings. That’s it, now you know how to move the Windows taskbar to your liking.
Even then, if you have to think again, you can always move the toolbar back and place it on any side of the desktop. How? Very simple: by performing all the operations that I have just indicated to you from the beginning but, this time, by positioning the taskbar in the point where you deem most appropriate.
Reset the toolbar on Windows
The toolbar has disappeared from the desktop and you would like to understand how to make it reappear? Don’t worry, it’s not really gone, it’s just hidden! If so, move the mouse cursor to all four sides of the screen until you see the taskbar appear.
Therefore, right-click in a point of the bar where there are no icons or buttons and select the item Taskbar settings or Property from the menu that appears.
On Windows 10, in the panel that is shown to you, move up OFF the lever next to the wording Automatically hide the taskbar in desktop mode. If, on the other hand, you are using an older version of the operating system, remove the check mark from the box next to the item Auto Hide and click the buttons Apply And OK.
In case of second thoughts, you can make it again so that the toolbar automatically disappears from the desktop when not in use, simply by carrying out the procedure just seen together again but, this time, by activating the appropriate option attached to the properties of the taskbar.
How to move the toolbar down on Mac
You don’t have a computer with a Windows operating system but you have a Mac and you would therefore like to understand how to reposition the Dock at the bottom of the screen? If the answer is yes, fear not! Even in this case I can explain how to do it.
To begin with, access the section System Preferences macOS by clicking thebitten apple icon at the top and choosing the appropriate item from the menu that is shown to you.
Next, click on the entry Dock attached to the screen that has opened, locate the item Position on the screen and put a check mark next to the option Down. Once this is done, the changes will be made instantly and your Mac’s Dock will be immediately returned to the bottom of the screen, where it has always been.
If, on the other hand, the Dock seems to have disappeared from the desktop and you are interested in understanding how to make it visible again at the bottom of the screen, access the section System Preferences macOS as I indicated earlier, click on the item Dock and, in the new screen that is shown to you, remove the check mark from the item Show and hide automatically.
Even in this case, the changes made will be applied immediately and the Dock will then be visible and accessible again as it always has been.
In both cases, should you have second thoughts, repeat all the procedure that I have just indicated but, this time, to reposition the Dock remember to put a check mark in correspondence with the items To the left or To the right annexed to the section Dock system preferences, depending on your preferences.
By following the same procedures indicated above, you can re-enable the retractable mode by placing the check mark next to the item Show and hide automatically.
