Preliminary information
From the moment you wonder how to see old stories on instagram First of all, I must inform you that, in order to succeed in the intent you have proposed, you must activate the functionality Archive for Instagram stories by acting through the social network app for Android (also downloadable from alternative stores) or iOS.
The functionality in question, in fact, is used to see “expired” Instagram stories, ie those that are no longer visible to the public, as more than 24 hours have passed since their initial publication.
Furthermore, as I will explain shortly, through theArchive it is possible to save, delete and eventually share the old stories again, using the social network app for smartphone And Tablet.
It is not possible to act from PC: at least at the time of writing, in fact, theArchive of Instagram is not usable through the official website of the social network or its application for Windows 10 and later.
So to get started, launch the Instagram app, log into your account (if needed) and make one swipe to the left on the main screen, to open the story creation tool.
Once this is done, press the button with the gear symbol, at the top left, tap on the item history and finally, verify that the entry Save the story to the archive is active. If not, move the toggle from OFF to ON, to activate it.
How to see old stories on Instagram
After activating theArchive, for see old stories on Instagram go to the section of yours profile in the Instagram app (by pressing the thumbnail located at the bottom right), then tap on the ☰ icon, located in the top right corner.
Once this is done, click on the item Archive and select the option Archive of stories in the next menu, at the top. By doing so, you will be able to see the stories you have published previously, as these will have been automatically archived when they expire.

Would you save the old stories that you had posted on Instagram, in order to make them always visible? Nothing simpler. All you have to do is identify the story of your interest through theArchive, select it and press the button Highlight, to add it to featured stories and, by doing so, ensure that it is always visible on your Instagram profile.
If, on the other hand, you want to save an old story on your device without making it visible again, press the icon (…) next to it and then tap the button Save photos, in the menu that is shown to you.
How to repost old stories on Instagram
The stories featured inArchive they can be re-shared as such or they can be published in post.
To perform these operations, go to the section of theArchive of Instagram as explained and then tap on the story you want to share.
Now, to re-publish an image (or video) present in theArchive, in the form of a story, presses the button Share and then on the button Your story, to make the story available for viewing again for 24 hours.
Alternatively, to share the story like post, press the button (…) and presses on the voice Share as a post. Once this is done, press the button Come on and, finally, confirm the publication by tapping the button Share.
How to delete old stories on Instagram
Through theArchive of stories of Instagram you can too erase old stories. To do this, all you have to do is identify the story of your interest and tap it to view it.
Once this is done, click on the icon (…) and, in the menu that is shown to you, presses the button Delete. Finally, confirm the operation by pressing the button again Delete.
How to see the old Instagram stories of others
You wonder how to see the old Instagram stories of others? In that case, you need to know that you cannot see theArchive of the stories of others, as this section is private.
However, you can refer to the section featured stories. Visible from smartphone And Tablet but also from computer (from the Instagram website and its application for Windows 10 and later), it contains the stories that the user wants to highlight, so that they do not “expire” automatically after 24 hours and can be seen at any time.
Therefore, go to the profile of the user of your interest: the featured stories, if present, they will be visible under the biography: tap on them icons (round) and you will be able to view them without time limits, or in any case until the account owner decides to remove them manually.
How to see old stories on Instagram without being seen
Would you like to see the old stories about a person, but you don’t want them to know? In this case, as mentioned, since it is not possible to see theArchive of another user’s stories, you can only see the now “expired” stories that have been added to featured stories.
If, in this regard, you want to prevent your name from appearing in the list of people who have viewed one story in evidence on Instagram, you have to wait for some time to pass from the posting of the added story in the featured stories.
In fact, as explained in this chapter, the list of people who have viewed an Instagram story is no longer available more than 48 hours have passed since its publication.
