Nokia 2.2 offers the latest advancements in AI and AndroidTM at an affordable price
The Nokia 2.2 is the first Nokia smartphone of the 2 series to be part of the Android One program, offering the latest full Android experience on a modern 5 screen.
HMD Global, the home of Nokia phones, today announces the arrival on the Portuguese market of the Nokia 2.2, which offers an AI system for low light images and a button to access the Google Assistant, all at a surprising price. The Nokia 2.2 is the first Nokia smartphone of the 2 series to be part of the Android One program, and it offers the latest full Android experience on a modern 5.7” screen with a discreet selfie-notch. The Nokia 2.2 is Android Q ready and will receive two years of OS updates and three years of monthly security updates, ensuring access to the latest Android innovations.
Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer, HMD Global, reported:
“We believe that the latest and best innovations in the industry should be within everyone’s reach. With Nokia 2.2, we’ve brought the pinnacle of AI experiences to more users than ever before. In addition, it incorporates features such as biometric facial unlock with vivacious detection that adds extra security to the phone, AI images, Google Lens and a button to access the Google Assistant, aiming to revolutionize the way our fans interact with the telephone. Nokia 2.2 joins our Android One family and, like all Nokia smartphones, offers an experience that stays current longer. With two years of OS updates and three years of guaranteed monthly security updates, the Nokia 2.2 is Android Q ready and will continue to improve.”
Low-light images and AI technology to outdo yourself
Thanks to sophisticated AI-driven low-light image fusion in this price range, the Nokia 2.2 is able to capture photos in great detail even in tricky low-light conditions. The cameras capture multiple images simultaneously and, using advanced algorithms, create a single image with more light, more detail and less noise. HDR photography captures vivid colors with greater dynamic range with every shot. Makes photos stand out through Google Photos IA features such as Color Pop, to draw attention to the theme, Colourise, which allows monochromatic images to be converted to color, and Beautify, which enhances natural characteristics to achieve the best selfie.
In addition, users have access to the latest technological trends with “facial unlock” and Google Lens. The Nokia 2.2 is one of the first phones in this category to come equipped with a biometric facial unlock feature, which allows you to effortlessly unlock your device. And compared to other phones in this price range, the advanced AI-powered facial unlock system uses vivid learning and detection algorithms to get an accurate and tamper-proof experience. Google Lens lets you search for what you see. So when you see a product you like, just point the camera lens to see how you can buy it, or direct the camera to an album to discover a new song and stream it through music services like Spotify.
The Nokia 2.2 also delivers the latest design trends, with an edge-to-edge display with a modern, unobtrusive selfie-notch, maximizing the screen surface while maintaining a pocket-sized format. The 5.71” edge-to-edge HD display offers a large screen while ensuring the Nokia 2.2 is compact for one-handed use. The screen, with a brightness of 400nits, allows for a more vibrant viewing experience. All of this is powered by a four-core MediaTek A22 chipset, which is designed to offer battery optimization so that the phone’s battery lasts a full day.
The Nokia 2.2 gives users the opportunity to express themselves, bringing back the style of a personalized smartphone with removable Nokia Xpress cases. The covers use the same nano-coating technology to deliver a premium glossy look in a range of vivid colours. Nokia Xpress-on cases are easily changeable in seconds and are available in Sand Pink, Ice Blue and Wood Green.
Quick access with the Google Assistant button
Nokia 2.2 brings you the best of Google Assistant via one hot button and at the lowest price yet. Ask Google Assistant questions, get directions, place calls and tell it to get things done faster than ever. Pressing once gives you immediate access to Google Assistant, and pressing longer allows you to make more detailed requests and multitask.
Nokia phones, getting better
The Nokia 2.2 is the first Nokia smartphone in the 2 series to join the Android One family. With a proven track record of delivering the latest Android and Google experience across the entire Nokia smartphone portfolio, the Nokia 2.2 is compatible with Android Q.
With Android 9 Pie, Nokia 2.2 gives you access to new digital wellness tools, including a control panel, an app timer, Wind Down mode and an improved “Do Not Disturb” function. The smartphone helps control device usage and disables all visual interruptions, allowing you to disconnect whenever you want. Other functions like Slices and App Actions anticipate next moves, offering application integration and hotspots that help get the next task done faster and easier than ever before. In addition, adaptive battery limits battery usage for applications that are used less often.
Nokia 2.2 joins the range of Nokia smartphones that are part of the Android One family, meaning it offers the latest version of Android innovations and associated software experiences. Nokia phones with Android One offer a lot of storage capacity and battery life right from the start, plus they come with three years of monthly security updates and two guaranteed operating system updates. Like all Nokia smartphones, the Nokia 2.2 has no bloatware, no additional skins or user interface changes, and hidden processes that consume battery life or clutter up storage.
