Nokia 7.2 and Nokia 6.2: Two affordable Android One smartphones presented

Nokia 7.2 and Nokia 6.2: Two affordable Android One smartphones presented

Nokia licensee HMD Global was also a guest at IFA 2019. They had five new Nokia Phones in their luggage, two of which piqued my interest. They are the two Android One smartphones Nokia 7.2 and Nokia 6.2. Both smartphones are well-equipped mid-range smartphones that, in my opinion, come on the market at a very fair price.

But let’s take a look at what the new Nokia smartphones have to offer.

Nokia 7.2 – triple camera with 48 MP sensor

This time the Nokia 7.2 offers a large 6.3 inch FHD + LC display with HDR10 and a “mini notch” in the shape of a water drop. On the back is the circularly arranged ZEISS triple camera with 48 MP main sensor, 8 MP wide-angle camera and 5 MP sensor for depth information. Quad-pixel technology combines four pixels into one to create outstanding images in all conditions. The front camera takes photos with 20 megapixels.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 660, which is flanked by 4 GB of RAM, is used under the hood. There is an internal storage space of 64 gigabytes that can be expanded with a microSD card. The back, where the classic fingerprint sensor is located, is made of high-tech materials, meaning a special polymer (plastic). Compared to glass, it should be more resistant to scratches and fingerprints.

Furthermore, a 3500 mAh battery is on board, which according to the manufacturer should allow a running time of at least two days. Of course, that always depends on user behavior. The operating system is Android 9 Pie ex works, but an update to Android 10 has already been announced. Bluetooth 5.0, LTE Cat. 6, WLAN b / g / n / ac, NFC, FM radio and a 3.5 mm jack connection complete the package.

Nokia 6.2 – the little brother of Nokia 7.2

At first glance, the Nokia 6.2 looks exactly like the Nokia 7.2 and offers the same 6.3 inch FHD + LC display. The differences are mainly to be found under the hood. So there is “only” the Snapdragon 636, which was already used in the Nokia 7.1. The processor is flanked by 4 GB of RAM. There is an internal storage space of 64 GB.

The back is occupied by the circular triple camera and the classic fingerprint sensor. In contrast to the Nokia 7.2, it is made of glass. The main sensor has a resolution of 16 MP, and like the Nokia 7.2, there is also an 8 MP wide-angle camera and a 5 MP sensor for depth information. Selfies are taken with the 8 megapixel camera.

The 3500 mAh battery, the 3.5 mm jack connector, Bluetooth 5, FM radio and NFC are identical. LTE is up to Cat. 4 is supported and the standards b / g / n and c are on board with WLAN.

Nokia 6.2 and Nokia 7.2: pricing and availability

The Nokia 6.2 is expected to go on sale for 249 euros or 249 francs in mid-October 2019. The Nokia 7.2 is offered for 299 euros or 299 francs, and availability is expected around mid-October.
