Red Dead Redemption 2: Rockstar’s New Game Coming Fall 2017

Finally, after months and months of rumors, which took shape two days ago when Rockstar started leaving mysterious pictures about their new game, Rockstar has officially announced Red Dead Redemption 2, the continuation of which was in turn the continuation of Red Dead Revolver.

The new game will hit the market in the fall of next year, and in principle it will only be available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, without Rockstar having mentioned a word about the PC version. No previous installment of the saga has made an appearance on PC, so we will see if they finally decide to launch it at some point, maintaining the same policy they had with Grand Theft Auto V.

Another rumor that has not finally been confirmed was the existence of a port of the original Red Dead Redemption to new generation consoles and PC. Finally, this rumor has been undone as it has not been announced. This is probably because the development of the original Red Dead Redemption was fraught with problems due to the complex adaptation of its engine to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles. Such is the case, that they have decided not to do any port of that version.

The game is being developed by Rockstar North, who are in charge of developing the entire Grand Theft Auto saga, and who helped Rockstar San Diego develop the original Red Dead Redemption.

What we know at the moment

What we know about this new game is that it will copy the model that has worked so well for Rockstar with Grand Theft Auto V: there will be a Red Dead Redemption 2, with its story mode, and a Red Dead Online, which will take advantage of the game map to offer a vast multiplayer experience.

Regarding the game itself, it will be set at a time before Red Dead Redemption, and the map will be located just east of where the action occurred in the first Red Dead Redemption. The map that was leaked in April about the alleged game has also turned out to be real, and we can see that the Great Plains area appears on both the original game map and the new one, and this is earlier in time because it does not have a railroad track.

To know more details about the game, we will have to wait to next October 20, at 11 AM ET, which will be 17:00 pm in Spain, at which time the first trailer of the game will be presented.
