– There may not be multiplayer in Cyberpunk 2077
While they’re working to get Cyberpunk 2077 to get multiplayer mode after its release, if it doesn’t hit the level, they won’t be forced.
- They work in the multiplayer mode of Cyberpunk 2077
- But it can only get into the game after it appears
- Even if it gets in, because if they can’t do it right, they won’t be forced
Although Gamescomra has released Cyberpunk 2077 on CD Project RED, it hasn’t shown much of the game in addition to the new images in the gallery below – the new gameplay presentation is set to be post-event next Friday. Fortunately, they did not make a vow of silence, so they will be happy to talk about the program if asked.
Artistic director Marthe Jonkers told Eurogamer that research and development on a multiplayer case is underway, but they are currently focusing on the single-player mode of Cyberpunk 2077, which will be released from their hands in 2020. Multiplayer can only get a place in the game if it jumps to the high quality they set. “If it doesn’t work, then it doesn’t work,” Jonkers said. “We would never do something in Cyberpunk that doesn’t at least skip the standards set by Witcher.”
Jonkers also spoke a few words about the increased headcount of the CD Project RED, which is now double the number of people working on Witcher 3. And they certainly need those 400 people, because the artist said that although Wild Hunt was an open-world game, it had completely different conditions.
In Witcher 3, Geralt was bound. His appearance, his connections, his fighting style, his perception – all of these were provided by the background of the character written decades earlier. In contrast, Cyberpunk in 2077 will leave everything to the player, there will be no such restrictions. This, in turn, means that the gameplay can be taken in many more directions, more opportunities need to be provided, so the number of RED CD Project employees has had to be radically increased.
