Resident Evil 5 DLC May Have Already Been On Disc

Resident Evil 5 has been in the shops for a few weeks now and the game has pleasantly surprised us, as was apparent from our enthusiastic review. The paid downloadable content (DLC) Versus Mode appeared online yesterday, but there has been quite a bit of commotion around the release of this content.

The DLC is in fact very small: 1.8 MB for the Xbox 360 and an unprecedentedly small 351 KB for the PlayStation 3. It is therefore very likely that the extra content was already on the disc and that at most you download a code that DLC releases. Capcom has not yet responded to the messages, although it was previously indicated that the DLC would use parts from the game itself, which would explain the small download.

While there have been games before with optional content on the disc that could be made available for a fee, this situation has been on the minds of many Resident Evil 5 players. The new Versus Mode has appeared on Xbox Live for 400 Microsoft Points and on the PlayStation Network the content costs €4.99.

Resident Evil 5 is of course another third-person action/horror game. This time the setting is a sweltering African state and this time you have Chris Redfield under the control, an old acquaintance from the previous Resident Evil titles. Chris has started working for the organization BSAA and on behalf of this company he is sent to Africa to prevent a worldwide epidemic. Fortunately, you get help from the charming lady Sheva, which is possible in both single player and cooperative.
