Sales of smartphones and tablets are growing and stagnating for laptops


Desktop PCs are outdated – that is clear. But laptops will also be sold less and less in the future. Anyone who wants to make a profit as a provider relies on smartphones and tablets. Mobile Internet use will increase sharply and with it the sale of appropriately equipped devices.

According to an estimate by IDC, 718 million smartphones were sold worldwide this year. According to the analysts, the boom in this type of device is only just beginning. For 2016 they expect sales figures to almost double.

The number of tablets sold will increase even more rapidly. If 122 million flat computers are sold this year, there should be 283 million devices in four years. This corresponds to an increase of 131 percent.

Sales of laptops, on the other hand, will grow moderately in the coming years; classic desktop PCs are stagnating. All in all, the number of Internet-enabled devices used worldwide will increase significantly. The rapidly growing sales of smartphones and tablets suggests that mobile internet usage in particular will increase sharply.
