Ack! Ack! Ack! Is it Lara Croft or a Martian from Mars Attacks?
Most texture glitches in games might be a little entertaining, but they’re certainly not scary. They are generally nothing more and nothing less than textureless characters wandering lifelessly through scenes that would be much more interesting if all of their features had been rendered as the developers intended.
Things aren’t quite so benign in Tomb Raider, where rendering and texture errors result in some of the most horrifying screenshots I’ve ever seen. Lara Croft almost looks like one of the Martians from Mars Attacks without her skin! Out, which is why I immediately mentally say “Ack! Ack! Ack! Ack!” listen.
In case you don’t remember or don’t know Tim Burton’s film, these are the sounds that Martians use to communicate with each other. And these Martians have the same skinless faces and goggle eyes as Lara Croft with the texture glitch. This is the stuff nightmares are made of.
But at least her hair is beautiful.
