World in Conflict, a game that aims to offer next-gen experiences with the strategy genre, has already shown a lot of beautiful things. Large atom clouds, violent explosions and beautiful environments have already been featured in many trailers and the screens were always there. PC gamers have been able to get their hands on this game for quite some time now and the Xbox 360 version is still waiting.
Today there is mixed news, as the message pops up that the game will not be released for the Xbox 360 until the fall. On the other hand, additional content for both the single player and multiplayer is being developed and to top it off, World in Conflict is now also officially in development for the PlayStation 3. This version will also be released in the fall.
PC gamers do not have to fear that they will have to miss the extra content of the console versions, because the content will also be released as an add-on for the PC.
World in Conflict promises to be the next generation of strategy games, complete with fully destructible 3D environments, team-based multiplayer and a focus on fast, effective combat. The story presents you with an authentic Cold War scenario, in which the Berlin Wall never fell. It is 1989 and the Soviet troops are pushing their way across Europe. NATO is very reticent and will not act until an overwhelming invasion of US territory takes place. You play a field commander in this situation and you are in charge of the most powerful military machines in the world in a mission to retake American cities.
