In October it’s time to switch to newer versions.

If your system is still running Windows XP or Windows Vista, I have bad news for you: several Blizzard Games will no longer support these operating systems starting October. The company announced yesterday that World of Warcraft, StarCraft II, Diablo III, Hearthstone and Heroes of the Storm will no longer work with these systems from the fourth quarter of 2017.

“Microsoft ceased mainstream support for these versions of Windows in 2009 and 2012, respectively, but since a decent portion of our audience was still using them at the time, we continued supporting them,” the statement says. “However, there have been three major Windows releases since Vista, and at this point, the vast majority of our audience has upgraded to one of the newer versions.”

This not only means that these games will no longer receive technical support for these operating systems, but that they will no longer work with them at all. So if you are still using one of these old OS, you should update as quickly as possible if you have the most popular games from the company Blizzard want to continue playing. still using one of these, you’ll need to update ASAP. “We’ll be rolling out this change on a staggered schedule, and will post further notices as we get closer to making the change for each game,” it says at the end of the announcement.
