Thank God, E.A seems capable of learning. After years of DLC packs and season passes that drain wallets and roil fan bases, the company is slowly (or at least partially) moving away from it. Star Wars Battlefront II(official site) follows the example of Titanfall 2meaning all new maps, game modes, heroes, weapons and vehicles will be free for all players. E.A announced this today during its E3 presentation-o-rama and also showed off some fancy action at locations from the in a new trailer star Wars Eightology. There was also live gameplay. Here is the fancy E3 2017 trailer:

The good news of free content left DICE from Janina Gavankar announce who is the protagonist of the single player campaign Battlefront II plays.

“The team at DICE heard our feedback loud and clear on the previous Battlefront, and are committed to keeping this community together with themed seasons of content post-launch for all players at no additional charge,” she said.

The first free update will be released in time for Christmas and will give players, among other things, Finn and Captain Phasma as playable characters.

“The first season, inspired by Star Wars: The Last Jedi, is only the beginning of the additional content coming to this game,” explained Gavankar further. “All post-launch heroes, maps, weapons, and vehicles will be free for everyone who owns Star Wars Battlefront II.”

That sounds good. E.A published some Battlefront Maps and other things were free, but most of it was offered in €15 DLC packs. What was downright shabby was that the DLC packs were available two weeks later for anyone who decided to purchase them individually instead of as part of the season pass. Stopping is sensible.

Here are two more interesting videos. The first shows some of the classes, the second shows around a quarter of an hour of gameplay:
