Normally you are always assigned to a session where, in the worst case scenario, at least 5 to 10 players are playing, but in the last few days we have noticed that we are sometimes on an empty server or session in GTA 5 Online and the whole thing is something unusual. Because when we come to the server, there are still a lot of players active and they are also moving, which means it is still working at that moment. At some point after a while of playing time, sometimes it doesn’t even happen at all, you will see the message “Player has left the game” on the left side. It can happen a few times that individual players leave the sessions in GTA 5 Online, but in this case they all left at once. So what do you do to be able to play GTA Online with other players again?

Even though we haven’t found the exact cause why the GTA Online session is suddenly empty and the message “Player has left the game” is displayed on the side for every active player, we have found a fairly simple solution. Due to current events, we suspect that the disruptions in the sessions in the lobby and the empty servers in GTA 5 Online are simply due to overload, because the PC version was released a few days ago and the rush is, as expected, huge. We also own both versions and have the problem in the GTA 5 PC version once or twice in a few hours of play.
So if you are on an empty server in GTA Online on the PC, PS4 or Xbox One, simply quickly open the settings and go to “Online”. There you will find a button relatively far down that says “New Session”. You can use this to change sessions in no time and there should be players on the new server again.
