In the past few months, a number of details have been learned about Star Wars 1313 – and now another huge detail has become public: Last year, shortly before E3, LucasArts made some fundamental changes to the game that was already in development After careful consideration, he decided to put the always helmet-wearing bounty hunter Boba Fett at the center of the action.
This happened last May. Star Wars creator George Lucas took a close look at 1313 – whose development had already been started from scratch several times by this point – and told the team that he wanted it to be about Boba Fett, the mercenary whose clone lineage appeared in Star Wars Prequels was mentioned.
You can see a blueprint for this version of Star Wars 1313 above. Boba Fett kneels over someone who looks a lot like Bossk, a lizard-like bounty hunter whom Fett appears to have captured. They seem to be in the seedy underworld of Coruscant.
Unfortunately, LucasFilm’s game, which was overshadowed by numerous problems, was finally buried yesterday as part of the closure of LucasArts, the 30-year-old video game studio that was responsible for several other Star Wars games before 1313. LucasFilm said that 1313 and Star Wars: First Assault, the studio’s other canceled game, could be given to other developers, but insiders say the chances of that happening are very slim. In February it was announced that development of 1313 had been paused since the fall.
“They ended up with movie tech that wouldn’t fit in a game, and game tech that wouldn’t fit in a movie,” an insider shared. “1313 was always in danger of not being made.”
Bad news for Star Wars fans. As a consolation, another design showing Boba Fett among some other soldiers or mercenaries.
